100 YEARS SINCE THE FOUNDING OF THE ALGA SUŠAK LABORATORY

22. July 2026.

On this day one hundred years ago, 24 July 1926, the Pharmaceutical‑Cosmetic Laboratory Alga Sušak was officially registered. Built on the foundations of the well‑known preparation Alga for Massage and guided by the visionary ideas of its enterprising founders, Dinko Budak and Vladimir Kezele, the Alga Sušak laboratory played an exceptionally important role in the economy of Sušak.

Thanks to its quality and marketing ideas far ahead of their time, Alga Sušak products—especially Alga for Massage and Energin—were used all around the world.

After the end of the Second World War, the Pharmaceutical‑Cosmetic Laboratory Alga Sušak and the Alga Palace were nationalized, and in the years that followed the story of Alga Sušak became relatively unknown. Through its work, the JGL Museum of Pharmacy aims to preserve this important segment of local history and the national history of pharmacy from being forgotten. In line with this mission, Alga Sušak has been given a special place in the expanded exhibition of our museum, and we remind you that a commemorative plaque was installed on the Alga Palace last year.
