JGL Pharmacy museum celebrated three years of work. 22. On October 22, 2020 , this special museum, specializing in the history of pharmacy, was opened in the center of Rijeka, in Užarska Street.

Despite the fact that it was opened during the pandemic era, which brought with it many restrictions, the JGL Pharmacy museum soon positioned itself as a desirable place to visit on the cultural and tourist route of our city. What we are particularly proud of is the fact that so far over two thousand of the youngest visitors, students of all ages and students have organized an organized visit to the JGL Pharmacy museum. We are sure that among them are those who have become more interested in pharmacy in our museum and will later pursue a career in this noble profession.

In addition, the museum continuously collects museum material related to the history of pharmacy in the world, in Croatia and in Rijeka, and participates in and publishes expert papers on topics from the history of pharmacy in Croatia. Three different exhibitions were organized and set up: “Pharmacies of Rijeka and Sušak from the beginning of the 20th century”, “750 years of pharmacy in Croatia” and “Alga Sušak – Guardian of your health”. The museum has also become the professional base of the University of Rijeka, Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy. The crown of his work came as part of the JGL Integra project, when an exhibition space was arranged in the new JGL building on Svilno, with about 2,000 items on display from the holdings of the JGL Pharmacy museum and the collection of prof. Vladimir Grdinić.

It is also worth mentioning that the JGL Pharmacy museum is a partner in the “Aromas Itinerarium Salutis” project, which aims to promote the European route of historic pharmacies and medicinal gardens, and the project involves pharmacy museums, universities, tourist boards and various associations from Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
